F when you are standing in front of it. The button on the HUD should light up and a selector become visible when you can interact with something like the crystal, items on the ground, or doors.
If you are still having problems can I ask that you take a screenshot of you standing in front and facing the crystal or items? I have never seen this problem before.

Can't figure out how to get out of the starting room.
Opening the map while moving lets you keep moving.
You have to interact with the crystal in the big room.

I think I figured out what was going on. When my inventory is full of cubes, I can't pick up more cubes, nor can I interact with stuff.

Ah yes there was an item bug in the first upload. I uploaded a new version that should have that fixed.
